It’s almost impossible to talk about shows like Sex and the City, Gossip Girl or Scandal without discussing one of the most important aspects of the series: the fashion. Carrie’s tutu, Blair’s headbands, Olivia’s coats — it all helps set the scene, set the tone and, of course, set real life trends. To celebrate this connection, The Paley Center for Media has decided to host Behind the Seams: Fashion and TV, a discussion on the relationship between TV and fashion.

Nina Garcia, editor-in-chief of ELLE, Joanna Coles, chief content officer of Hearst Magazines, and fashion designer Zac Posen will lead the discussion about the effect TV has had on the fashion industry and how TV has brought attention to the fashion world.
“Television has long served as the vehicle on what influences culture and conversation, so it’s only natural this includes fashion,” Maureen J. Reidy, the Paley Center’s President & CEO, said in a statement. “We’re thrilled to select Behind the Scenes as the grand finale to our incredible fall season, and look forward to what will be an informative and stylish conversation.”
The program will take place on Dec. 12, 2017 at 7 p.m. EST. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Nov. 16, 2017 at noon EST at paleycenter.org.
